R.E.A.L

Relationship / Effectiveness / Authenticity / Leadership

What does it mean to be R.E.A.L?

The REAL Equestrian is a way of riding, training and moving through life. We focus on creating healthy relationships, effective communication, authentic living, and inspiring leadership

These four pillars create the foundation for success both in and out of the tack.

  • Relationships are similar to growing plants, we need to water them every day, treat them carefully, and keep a close eye on what works and what doesn’t.

This means we need to pay attention to what our horse is saying, and adjust our plans accordingly.

One of the things that help a relationship thrive is trust, which is built over time with consistent, clear communication and listening.

    Does your horse trust you?

    Do you trust in yourself?

  • Personal effectiveness is the ability to get things done. Effectiveness is not efficiency – it’s about doing things well rather than doing things fast. Effectiveness is what raises your personal levels of performance, achievement and satisfaction. Effectiveness is a skill, not a personality trait. Therefore, it can be learned.

    How effective is your horsemanship?

How effective are you in your daily life?

  • Authenticity means you're true to your own personality, and values, regardless of the pressure that you're under to act otherwise.

You're honest with yourself and with others, and you take responsibility for your mistakes. Your values, ideals, and actions align. As a result, you come across as genuine, and you're willing to accept the consequences of being true to what you consider to be right.

Do you pretend to be ok when you’re not?

Do you let others know what you need and how you are feeling?

  • Leaders provide guidance, inspiration, and motivation. You can lead from inspiration or intimidation, both work in the moment, but only one way creates lasting change.

Leaders with strong, trusting and authentic relationships with their horse(s) know that investing time in building these bonds makes them more effective as a leader, and creates a foundation for success.
